9-4-06 Still Alarm 640 N Ashland
I found this on my way to the FAO this morning..I was first in!!! I watched all the companies come in and go to work,a rare opportunity. A few comments..
the fire building appears to be a balloon type frame..very old and in shoddy condition...It looked to me from the outside that the fire was in the attic..but judging by the windows they took out it must have been in the first floor rear..
Eng 30 and engine 14 both lead out 1 line...
..the ground ladder being deployed on the side of exposure 4a was I believe to be raised in the rear of the fire building..there was no access to the rear as they had hoped so that's why the ladder was being positioned on the exposure bldg...they then brought up a roof ladder to complete access to the fire building...I think the wires they were dealing with here were for cable television..
.All in all the operation was successful...It is a rare opportunity to be on the scene this early in an incident and I found it very educational
